Lipomas
Lipomas vary in size and site. They are common lesions which we can remove with a simple incision of the overlying skin and removal of the lesion. Lipomas are then sent for further pathological analysis. Lipomas can grow rapidly, they can also be painful. Rarely these lesions can be atypical and even more rarely show cancerous change.
Mr Potter has a specialist interest in removing lipomas of the head and neck. His clinic also has links to the Oxford soft tissue cancer service (Sarcoma) service if, in the rare occasion, a lesion had any concerning pathology. In this instance the patient would have the benefit of having their management run through a multi-discipline meeting so that any further treatment, be that surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy is discussed and planned to give the best outcome.
